The Competence Center for Mining and Mineral Resources is the first point of contact for Canadian and German companies and organizations interested in enhancing bilateral strategic partnerships in the mining and mineral resources sector.
The Competence Center for Mining and Mineral Resources is part of the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Inc. in Toronto. It was established in 2011 and is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Its mandate is to support the implementation of the “The German Government’s raw materials strategy – Safeguarding a sustainable supply of non-energy mineral resources for Germany” by providing market information, direct contacts and a platform to foster bilateral business partnerships.
The strategy provides a framework for securing long-term resource supply for German companies and aims to encourage companies to diversify their supply sources. It also advocates for increased market transparency and for the formation of bilateral partnerships with resource rich countries.
The Canadian resources market offers a broad range of mineral and metal products and has the potential to increase long term resource supply security for Germany. Germany, on the other hand, is not only a net importer of a broad range of minerals and metals but also a leading exporter of mining equipment and specialty services that can make a difference in the Canadian mining industry. Closer collaboration in the mining and mineral resource sector can thus be beneficial for both countries.
